Making DIY solar heating panels can be pretty simple, as long as you prepare the materials you need for the project. Anyone with average handyman skills should be able to easily complete the task, and special tools are not required.
All you need, in terms of equipment, are:
* a wood saw
* a hacksaw
* a drill
* a screwdriver
* a hammer
* screws
* nails
* a file
* a paintbrush
* a tape measure
Materials you need to procure include the following:
* a 10mm annealed copper tube
* a 16swg aluminum sheet
* glass fiber wool
* a marine-ply sheet
* 4mm glass
* timber for the frame
The copper tubes will be used to bring the water through the collector area. Copper has high thermal conductivity which makes it perfect for the job. It's available in most plumbers' shops, and comes in 20m, 25m, and 30m coils.
Once you've assembled the copper tubing, you'll need to attach it to the blackened absorber plate. It will collect the heat of the sun and transfer it to the copper tubing. It is recommended to use aluminum as an absorber plate because it is cheaper than copper sheets and it is more readily available in most locations.
The absorber plate will be encased in a wooden frame. It is made out of hardwood with a marine-ply backing sheet. If you want the frame to last longer, a preservative coating should be applied to it. This will add a couple of years of service.
The last part of the DIY solar heating panel is the transparent cover. This will prevent heat loss especially during cool weather. Glass is preferable because of its high light-transmission value. If you can't afford a float glass, acrylic sheeting is a suitable substitute. The bad side of using acrylic sheeting is that it is prone to scratching and discoloration.
The efficiency of DIY solar heating panels might not be as good as the efficiency of commercially available ones, but they can get good results. And think of the savings you'll get when you make one. A DIY solar heating panel costs a third the price of a commercial one. Not only that but you'll be cutting down your energy bill as well if you use it. If constructed right, the panel has a life expectancy of twenty years. There are no moving parts involved, and no maintenance should be required the panel.
Constructing DIY solar heating panels is not complicated and is one of the easier DIY solar power projects. This is one project that you should definitely try if you are interested in setting up DIY solar power equipment or systems. You can use the panel to heat your pool, or to supply your home with hot water.

UK DIY Market
The UK DIY Market continues to grow year on year with people doing bigger and bigger projects egged on by the numerous makeover shows on TV.
The DIY and Garden Market is made of the following bathroom, furniture, decorating, window/floor covering, building materials, garden/leisure, hardware and lighting.
The Market nearly doubled in the ten years between 1993 and 2003 from 8.7 billion to 16 billion pounds.
The main players in the market are Wickes, B&Q and Homebase, but Tesco is looking to move more into this sector in the next few years, it recently purchased Dobbies Garden Centres for £155.6m
The DIY market growth has been helped by a change in society culture; people see houses as an investment, and look to DIY to increase the return on investment. Consumers are now more into design. More and more people do not look to have families and have disposable income to spend on their homes. The Makeover shows on TV have increased interest in DIY.
The Internet has been used more to research DIY projects, and sites such as www.diy-store-in.co.uk allow you to compare all the leading DIY stores in one place.
Of all DIY projects, the most frequently occurring activity is decorating a room. People decorate their house more frequently than in the past. According to recent research, 20% of people doing DIY projects do so because they want a new look for their home/garden. The implication of this finding is that the DIY and Gardening market is increasingly driven by 'wants', rather than 'needs'.
In the future the DIY market is likely to grow even more with more investment in property likely, people will continue to renovate their homes, people will look to extend homes rather than move and prices are so high.

Build Your Own Unique Custom Closet - DIY
Closets have gone from an ignored portion of the house to a home selling point in the last few years. People are spending tens of thousands of dollars on their closet systems and even turning whole rooms into closets, which are really more like posh boutique dressing rooms. Professional closet designers report all sorts of lavish requests for closet designs, including espresso machines, pedicure chairs, refrigerators, mini bars and more. Couches, chairs, granite counter tops and motorized shoe racks aren't at all uncommon. You can use some of these ideas to turn your boring closet into a thing of beauty and convenience, even if you don't have a lot of room or money to work with.
Just adding a few conveniences will make your closet more usable. If you are starting with a standard hanging bar and high shelf, you may need to add some basics before you really deck it out. You can inexpensively add wooden shelves if you do it yourself. Building shelves is not all that hard. You will need precise measurements when you buy your wood. You may be able to get it cut at the hardware store when you purchase it, but you may have to have, rent or borrow a miter saw.
Design a closet system that fits your space and meets your needs by pulling everything out and categorizing it. This part can be really fun. Purchase a stud finder if you don't have one already, and make sure that you secure all shelves into studs.
You may have space between studs to add recessed shelves, which look really nice and add a lot of storage without using any space. Measure out the space between the studs, mark it off with a ruler, then remove the drywall using a steak knife or drywall knife. Stain and varnish the wood that you would like to use. Simply use wood glue to frame out the hole on the top, bottom and sides. Screw in 1x2 guide rails on each side and back, then place the shelf on top. You can use wood glue to secure the shelves and give them a nice finished out appearance.
Install the larger shelves in your closet. You can easily attach rails fro drawers underneath the shelves and use almost no room. You can buy drawers that are already built or build them yourself. An interesting drawer pull will make your closet unique. Drawer organizers can make a perfect place to store rolled ties, jewelry and more. You can even install a child lock on the drawer if you need to store valuables or dangerous items. A magnetic entry child lock cannot be seen from the outside or opened by an adult without the magnet entry key.
You can install valet bars, baskets, multiple level bars, shoe organizers and more to finish out your custom closet. Top it all off with some sturdy wood hangers that match your stain. A good coat hanger can keep your clothes from ending up on the floor and give your closet that upscale appearance that you're going for. Have fun designing the closet of your dreams!

Build Homemade Solar Panels For Your Home
Hello and thank you for visiting this green energy article. My name is Jeffrey and I have never been so grateful to so many people for the interest that has been shown in solar panel's, and green energy in general. For a few year's I have been a huge proponent of alternative energy and my main goal is to motivate people to take that one final step towards green energy. So again, thanks for visiting and here is some information about building your own homemade Solar Panel's and how you can get started immediately.
Homemade Solar Energy - Why Aren't We Leaders In This Energy Type?
I know that there are many people here in our own country that are already using solar energy. There are town's and cities everywhere that have begun to implement the solar panel's into there overall energy system.
But as a country - we are a bit behind.
Other countries have been implementing solar panel's and wind turbine's for quite sometime. These countries have not been shy about creating better environment's and using there own natural resource's for the benefit of there people. I know that we are currently in the midst of change here in America, but it's time to put the pedal to the metal. Until EVERY town and city, no matter how big or how small, start implementing there own alternative energy source's, like solar panel's and wind turbine's, our country will stay behind in green energy.
Build Your Own Homemade Solar Panel's
The first thing I would like to say is way to go. Way to do something. Too many people get stuck on talking and never make a move. Just making an effort to see what solar panel's and green energy is all about makes you apart of a smaller number of people. Hopefully that number will grow bigger with people like you.
But regardless if you decide to use sun powered energy or not, please make sure you check out ALL the different energy source's that are available. There are a few out there and each one has it's own unique capabilities.
Now, building your own alternative energy source is not a huge job. Until recently, the thought of building solar panel's could be related to some big government funded project that had to be taken on by NASA or something. But building homemade Solar Panel's can be done in your own backyard, garage, or basement. All you need is the right help and a novice-like knowledge of tool's.
The basic's to building your own homemade solar energy come's down to your ability to follow some very easy direction's. With picture's and video's included in the do it yourself Solar Panel building kit, you shouldnt have big problem with completing the project.
What I have found is that most people that aren't too sure of there own abilities to build something like this, have resorted to getting a friend, neighbor or family member to help with the actual building process.Not only can the cost of the plans or building kit be split, but its widely known that 2 head's are better than 1 - more importantly, 4 hand's are better than 2.
And when the job is finished, and you are looking at the finished product, nothing feel's better. Not only have you created your own homemade solar powered energy source from the ground up, but you get to plug in and watch the wonder that is solar energy, as it actually RUNS your TV or your refrigerator!
Once again, I thank you for your interest and if you would like to build your own homemade Solar Panel's, you can follow the link below for more information.

How to Build a Deck Bench
Constructing a deck bench will add beauty to your wooden platform. You can also use it when taking a break during your day-offs. Building this kind of deck project does not need any professional contractor since you can accomplish it yourself. This is a simple task and even beginners in carpentry can do it.
Just create a plan and follow it religiously and you will have comfortable and useful bench in a blink of an eye. This project does not need to be expensive. It can be constructed from wood from your lumber yard or from deck kits that are sold in your local hardware store.
STEPS IN CONSTRUCTING A DECK BENCH
Measure wood by one and one-half by three and one-half by forty-two inches (two pieces) for the sides of the chair; one and one-half by three and one-half by fifteen (two pieces) for the end of your platform chairs; a piece of slat that has a measurement of one and one-half by one and one-half by forty-five inches plus a pair stretches of one and one-half by three and one-half by fifteen inches. You also need 2 pairs of braces measuring one and one-half by five and one-half by fifteen inches each and four legs with size three and one-half by three and one-half by thirteen inches each.
Create the frame of the bench. Install the end parts in between the side parts. Accomplish this by placing three inch screws in each side. Install the slat to the chair frame by using three inch screws. Combine the chair slats and frame by using three inch screws.
You also need to create the pedestal of your bench. Place the slats in an upside down position to know the place of the stretches. Measure five inches and three and one-half inches on the inside portion of the end parts.
Combine the stretchers and slats with the help of one-half screws. Braces will ensure that your deck chair is securely installed. Shape your chair by creating a one and one-half inch line at the upper portion and a one and one-half inch line at the lower portion. Use a saw to cut the line from the upper part to the lower part. Repeat the same process for the remaining braces of the bench. After that, you need to assemble the parts of your chair.
Attach a brace on each side of the stretcher with three inch screw. Install the legs of the chair to the braces on the areas connecting the bench with three inch screws. To make your platform chair more attractive, you can sand it to make its surface smoother and you can also apply some varnish or any paint color that you want. You can also use some putty to hide the screws in the chair.
ADDITIONAL REMINDERS
To ensure that kids will not be able climb the wall of the deck, you can install high railings that will keep kids from climbing it even with the help of the deck chair. Decks usually help people have an excellent view of an area. Adding a chair will make your wooden platform an even more attractive resting area.
